Lots of modifications in the templates handling.

The template name is now seperated from the program name and is now under the template list.

When adding (saving) a new template it checks and don't accept the same filename.

A message pops up; file exist.

Added a template save button to save the current template again when modifications are made.

When saving a program or template and there is not a name given (the field is empty)then a message pops up to tell there is no name and the save gets aborted.

When new buton was pressed the templates and program list were reloade from disk destroying the updates from current session, is fixed now.

I noticed that since a certain ? update the Eatmem option was messed up, fixed.
(I could use some feedback, specially on options-combinations not often used)

Gendatam Suite beta 3 has been released (3/16/2007). This is a Java family history application, providing support for the Gedcom format.

[ANN] Gendatam Suite Beta 3

Gendatam Suite is a fully-featured Family History application.

Beta version 3 of Gendatam Suite for OS/2 is now available for download at http://www.gendatam.com/.

The application is a Java program which has been pre-compiled for use on OS/2. Running as native code makes the application generally quicker and more responsive.

The application has its own look-and-feel. This provides a consistent interface regardless of the host system.

OS/2 users may be interested in this application for a number of reasons:
  - It is written in Java but packaged as an OS/2 native code program.
  - It is a family history program available first on OS/2, but also to be available on the Microsoft Windows series with data compatibility between operating systems.

This beta will be of particular interest to those people who like to see how well programs will read the various varieties of Gedcom files.

This current beta version expires at the end of June 2007.

Feedback is welcome at betaDESPAM@DESPAMgendatam.com.

A note to archive administrators: The version is a beta version which incorporates an expiry date. There is no point in archiving it.

Regards
Peter

Hayo Baan's bootAble  Updated
Latest Release: 4.4 (13/03/2007)by Hayo Baan
  >>> http://www.xs4all.nl/~hrbaan/bootAble/index.html  <<<

"bootAble is an OS/2/eCS script to create a maintenance partition or a bootable CD/DVD. This partition or CD/DVD supports enough facilities to fully manage and recover your system."

Dear bootAble users,
It has been a while since the last update to bootAble, but finally there is another one  :-) This 4.4 release is basically a bug fix, with only minor enhancements to the functionality. The next thing I am going to work at is the integration of the Microsoft Virtual Machine additions, especially the mouse integration. For this, I may need to revamp the display driver integration (so far I have been unable to get the mouse integration to work), so this may take a while (if I can get it to work at all)...

v4.4 (13/03/2007)

Renamed CDRECORDCLEANDIR
to CDRECORDCLEANDIRBEFORE;
Now cleaning-up temp image files after creating the ISO file or burning the CD/DVD (CDRECORDCLEANDIRAFTER); You can now separately specify whether or not the Enhanced Editor
(EPM) should be added to a WPS system (WPSEPM, used to be included with WPSAPPS); Fixed bug in dirExists funtion, it now also correctly recognizes drives/root directories as valid. As a result, the SEARCHPATH can now contain root directories as well; Fixed bug with location of PEER related files when cloning a CD/DVD to a (maintenance) partition (CLONECD); The script now ignores errors when determining the cdrecorder device (cdRecorderDevice function) when only an ISO will be created (CDRECORDCREATEISOONLY='Yes'); cloneCD.cmd will not automatically add asked questions to the previously used file anymore as this could fail if the path does not exist on the booted system, and could be undesirable anyway (WRITEASKEDTOFILE and WRITEASKEDTOFILENAME); For the same reason, bootAble now removes the SIO logfile parameters in the default situation (SIOSERIALPORTOPTIONS, SIO2KSERIALPORTOPTIONS, SIO2KUARTOPTIONS).

JAlbum version 7.1 has been released (3/13/2007). This is a web photo album generator that runs on Java.

PM123 is an MP3, WAV, and CD Audio player, which is now open source. Some of the features include sharing of the sound card, playlist with drag/drop support, HTTP streaming, and the use of skins to change the program's look.

C.a.R. version 6.0 has been released. This is a Java program that simulates school geometry constructions with a pair of compasses and a straightedge (ruler).

Also available - NetLabs has released (11/6/2006) SAMBA 3.0.9 alpha 10; both client and server are included. Also available is 3.0.9 beta 14 of a client plugin for the NetDrive Filesystem, which supports 64-bit file I/O with NDFS 3.0 or higher. It allows you to mount SMB or CIFS shares on OS/2 without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer). Samba is freely available under the GNU General Public License; you can download the full OS/2 source code from NetLabs CVS. You can find the latest build on NetLabs FTP. From VOICE News.

An alpha 1 build of rdesktop version 1.5 has been released (3/8/2007). This is a free RDP client which you can use to connect to a Windows NT/2000/XP Terminal Server. Unlike earlier builds, it uses SDL and does not require XFree86/OS2. From OS2.org.

Maul Publisher version 3.11 has been released (3/6/2007). Maul Publisher is "the world's first professional desktop publisher for OS/2 Warp." It will automatically take care of page numbering in folding booklets, reversal of margins for facing pages, page numbering offsets where you don't want to start from page one, reversal of margins for top bound booklets and top folding booklets, centering margins on printers with odd margins, and multiway folding sheets and maps. Most important functional changes since 8.11:
  - CD       Display current working directory without an error
  - CHECK    NTFS, fix alloc error messages on split-tree DIR
  - CR dlg   Fix size=1 sticking after a BMGR partition is made
  - FORMAT   Use drive locking during format (on OS2 and Windows)
  - LOCK     Support lock-by-driveletter for large floppy format
  - LVM dlg  Update of driveletters works again (bug in 8.11)
  - MAP      Fixed display of driveletter line with 'map * +'
  - MENU     Display -> Other partition views; fixed, better help
  - MENU     Mode=FDISK -> Set Partition -> Not active, clear flag
  - NTFS     Recognize Windows Vista NTLDR sectors (named BOOTMGR)
  - PART     LVM column aligned if > 98 cols, using max 114 cols
  - PART -b  Align freespace lines for Linux in its default table
  - RESIZE   Allow '*' for default/maximum size in the dialog
  - RESIZE   NTFS, avoid empty bitmap extent on expanding the FS
  - RESIZE   NTFS, avoid extra bitmap flushing after updating it
  - STORE    Better understandable store description texts
  - WIPE -V  Perform an all-sector verify by reading back

Known bug (in version 8.11 and 8.12)
When creating LVM/JFS volumes (type 35) with DFSee, do NOT check both:
( ) Create NEW mode, clear existing bootsector and old LVM info
and
      [x] Include LVM information

Since that currently interferes with creating the extra info. This problem
is under investigation and wil be solved in 8.13. Using either one of them
is OK, but not both at the same time.

SW: PMView Pro 3.40

From: Mark Dodel <feedbackDESPAM@DESPAMos2voice.org>

PMView Pro is a longtime, shareware image viewer converter for OS/2 and windows.

http://www.pmview.com/os2new.html

03/01/2007 -PMView Pro v3.40 is now available for download. See list below for information about issues resolved with this version.

The following bugs and problems are fixed in PMView v3.40:

    1. If a file name with an apostrophe (e.g.
"d:\files_of_the_90's\image.jpg") is used on the command line, the apostrophe is stripped and PMView cannot open the file. (There is a bug in the GNU C-library, and this problem was introduced in PMView v3.10 when the switch to to GNU C was made. PMView v3.40 works around the bug by requesting and parsing the command line parameters from OS/2 instead of using the C-library).
    2. Starting PMView with the name of a file that does not exist may lock up PMView. This bug was introduced in v3.30
    3. When running a script for changing the resolution of an image that has EXIF data with resolution tags, the value of those tags are not changed. Consequently the resolution will appear unchanged unless the user choses not to save EXIF data. This version corrects the problem and updates the data in the corresponding EXIF tags.
    4. Saving, Windows BMP: Some legacy programs have trouble reading color mapped BMP files that has the bitmap field cclrUsed set to zero. This version works around the problem by setting the field to the maximum number of colors for the bitcount used.
