SW: PMView Pro 3.40
By Delfi_r on Thursday 8 March 2007, 00:13 - Noticias eComStation
From: Mark Dodel <feedbackDESPAM@DESPAMos2voice.org>
PMView Pro is a longtime, shareware image viewer converter for OS/2 and
windows.
http://www.pmview.com/os2new.html
03/01/2007 -PMView Pro v3.40 is now available for download. See list below for
information about issues resolved with this version.
The following bugs and problems are fixed in PMView v3.40:
1. If a file name with an apostrophe (e.g.
"d:\files_of_the_90's\image.jpg") is used on the command line, the apostrophe
is stripped and PMView cannot open the file. (There is a bug in the GNU
C-library, and this problem was introduced in PMView v3.10 when the switch to
to GNU C was made. PMView v3.40 works around the bug by requesting and parsing
the command line parameters from OS/2 instead of using the C-library).
2. Starting PMView with the name of a file that does not
exist may lock up PMView. This bug was introduced in v3.30
3. When running a script for changing the resolution of an
image that has EXIF data with resolution tags, the value of those tags are not
changed. Consequently the resolution will appear unchanged unless the user
choses not to save EXIF data. This version corrects the problem and updates the
data in the corresponding EXIF tags.
4. Saving, Windows BMP: Some legacy programs have trouble
reading color mapped BMP files that has the bitmap field cclrUsed set to zero.
This version works around the problem by setting the field to the maximum
number of colors for the bitcount used.
Download an evaluation version at http://www.pmview.com/download.html
To update a registered version you must use the information received when you
registered PMView Pro.

SW: DBCSMAP v1.0 publicado
By Delfi_r on Monday 26 February 2007, 20:44 - Noticias eComStation
From: Alex Taylor <posted on: comp.os.os2.apps>
I've released (Feb. 25) version 1.0 of DBCSMAP (Double Byte Character Map for OS/2).
DBCSMAP is an OS/2 character map program for Unicode and selected DBCS codepages. Specifically, it supports the Unicode Basic Multilingual Plane, as well as the common OS/2 codepages for Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), Japanese, and Korean. Characters from these DBCS codepages can be copied to the clipboard as codepage-specific text (or UTF-8 in the case of Unicode text), and in "text/unicode" format as supported by Mozilla. DBCSMAP is free software licensed under the GNU GPL. The latest version is available on Hobbes: Currently: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/incoming/dbcsmap-1_0.zip Later: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/util/international/dbcsmap-1_0.zip Source code is also available in the same location. NOTE: It has not yet been uploaded to my website, due to technical difficulties. (They seem to have been doing some kind of server maintenance over reading week, and now I can't log in anymore.) The previously-uploaded screenshots on my website are, however, still applicable to this version: http://www.cs-club.org/~alex/programming/os2/dbcsmap_uni_01.gif http://www.cs-club.org/~alex/programming/os2/dbcsmap_jp_01.gif http://www.cs-club.org/~alex/programming/os2/dbcsmap_cn_01.gif

The PHP development team would like to announce the immediate availability of
PHP 5.2.1. This release is a major stability and security enhancement of the
5.X branch, and all users are strongly encouraged to upgrade to it as soon as
possible.
Security Enhancements and Fixes in PHP 5.2.1:
* Fixed possible safe_mode & open_basedir bypasses inside the session
extension.
* Prevent searchs engine from indexing the phpinfo() page.
* Fixed a number of input processing bugs inside the filter extension.
* Fixed unserialize() abuse on 64 bit systems with certain input strings.
* Fixed possible overflows and stack corruptions in the session
extension.
* Fixed an underflow inside the internal sapi_header_op() function.
* Fixed allocation bugs caused by attempts to allocate negative values in some
code paths.
* Fixed possible stack overflows inside zip, imap & sqlite
extensions.
* Fixed several possible buffer overflows inside the stream filters.
* Fixed non-validated resource destruction inside the shmop extension.
* Fixed a possible overflow in the str_replace() function.
* Fixed possible clobbering of super-globals in several code paths.
* Fixed a possible information disclosure inside the wddx extension.
* Fixed a possible string format vulnerability in *print() functions on 64 bit
systems.
* Fixed a possible buffer overflow inside mail() and
ibase_{delete,add,modify}_user() functions.
* Fixed a string format vulnerability inside the odbc_result_all()
function.
* Memory limit is now enabled by default.
* Added internal heap protection.
* Extended filter extension support for $_SERVER in CGI and apache2
SAPIs.
The majority of the security vulnerabilities discovered and resolved can in
most cases be only abused by local users and cannot be triggered remotely.
However, some of the above issues can be triggered remotely in certain
situations, or exploited by malicious local users on shared hosting setups
utilizing PHP as an Apache module. Therefore, we strongly advise all users of
PHP, regardless of the version to upgrade to 5.2.1 release as soon as possible.
PHP 4.4.5 with equivalent security corrections will be available shortly.
The key improvements of PHP 5.2.1 include:
* Several performance improvements in the engine, streams API and some Windows
specific optimizations.
* PDO_MySQL now uses buffered queries by default and emulates prepared
statements to bypass limitations of MySQL's prepared statement API.
* Many improvements and enhancements to the filter and zip extensions.
* Memory limit is now always enabled, this includes Windows builds, with a
default limit of 128 megabytes.
* Added several performance optimizations using faster Win32 APIs (this change
means that PHP no longer supports Windows 98).
* FastCGI speed optimized build of PHP for Windows made available for
downloading.
* Over 180 bug fixes.
For users upgrading from PHP 5.0 and PHP 5.1, an upgrade guide is available at
http://www.php.net/UPDATE_5_2.txt,
detailing the changes between those releases and PHP 5.2.1.
For a full list of changes in PHP 5.2.1, see the ChangeLog (http://www.php.net/ChangeLog-5.php#5.2.1
).
