WPS-Wizard
version 0.5.3 beta 1 has been released (9/2/2007); the latest version can be
found on NetLabs. This is a WPS
addon which gives you freely configurable context menus for all filesystem
objects. You may have different extended menus for different classes. Also
available is a PNG icon addon,
which has been updated (9/2/2007) to version 1.1 RC3. This adds theming classes
to the WPS so PNG image files may be used as icons. Cairo is used for
rendering, so alpha-blending can be used.
MultiZilla 1.8.3.3e has been
released (9/1/2007). This is an extension that adds more features to the tabbed
interface in Seamonkey.
FM/2 version
3.7.0 has been released (8/31/2007). This is an open source GUI file manager
program, with lots of extra helper utilities. The source code is available from

Caravan has been updated
(8/31/2007) to version 3.59. This is an application server which has built-in
http, smtp, ftp and database engines. It also provides a scripting language, a
dynamic compiler and basic features needed to develop, test and run
applications.
There is a collection of Samba utilities
available: Samba server status monitor, Samba widget for xCenter, smb_init,
initgroups, findsmb, sharescripts, and useradd scripts, and smbprint, which

been released (8/30/2007). This is an eCS theme installer, which comes packaged

MagicDraw UML 14.0 EAP beta 2 has been
released (8/30/2007). This is a Java based UML modelling tool.
eSchemes version 1.39 has been released on the eComstation BetaZone (for Software
Subscription customers only). This replaces the original eComStation Scheme
editor and gathers the functionality of Window Themes, eStylerLite, Icon
Themes, Sound Schemes, Pointer schemes, and other look & feel settings into

Paul Smedley has released (8/27/2007) a build of CUPS 1.3.0, with ESP
Ghostscript 8.15.4 and Gutenprint 5.1.3. You can print using the command line
tools, or try the CUPS port
driver. CUPS is the Common Unix Printing System; the goal is to improve the
printing support in eComStation. You can see what printers are potentially
supported; those mentioned as
working with CUPS or Gutenprint should work. There is a newsgroup dedicated
to discussion and feedback.
Juergen Ulbts has released (8/26/2007) Eclipse
Enabler version 1.0.0. This package makes it possible to use Eclipse 3.2.2
on OS/2, by using SWTSwing, a Swing implementation of SWT. SWTSwing is also an
open
bounty at OS2World.com.
cddvdrtools
version 1.9 has been released (8/24/2007). This is is a set of command line
programs that allows to record CD/DVD/BluRay media, based on cdrecord
2.01.01a34. From OS2.org.
UniClip version
0.3.0 has been released (8/23/2007). This is designed to allow OS/2 programs to
exchange Unicode text using the clipboard with other native programs, or with
Odinized programs. It is compiled using Odin source code, so it shares the same
clipboard formats recognized in Win32 native programs. Note that it only works
for programs specifically developed for it, such as Lucide and OpenOffice
2.0.x.
ClamAV version
0.91.2 has been ported (8/23/2007) to OS/2. This is a GPL anti-virus toolkit,
which features a command line scanner, a tool for automatic updating via the
Internet, and integration with mail servers (attachment scanning).
BogoFilter
version 1.1.5 has been ported (8/23/2007) to OS/2. PMMBogoFilter
version 0.6.1 is also available (4/9/2006). This is a set of REXX scripts to
allow PMMail to use BogoFilter, a Bayesian SPAM filter program.
jRisk version 1.0.9.2 has been
released (8/23/2007). This is a Java version of the game Risk.
Paul Smedley has released (8/22/2007) an OS/2 build of Samba version 3.0.25c. Provided are both the
Samba server, and a client plugin for the NetDrive Filesystem, which supports
64-bit file I/O with NDFS 3.0 or higher. It allows you to mount SMB or CIFS
shares on OS/2 without the need of NetBIOS (IBM LAN Manager or IBM Peer).
VOICE purchased the rights and source code for the popular email client,
PMMail/2; version 3.0 beta 2 has been
released for VOICE members. VOICE membership will be required as part of the
registration.
PHPMyAdmin version 2.11.0 has
been released (8/22/2007). This is a set of PHP scripts to administer MySQL
over the web.
TrafficVisor III has been updated
(8/22/2007). This is a program to collect and analyze TCP/IP traffic. From

version 0.95.3 for OS/2; this allows you to use GnuPG with your email in
Thunderbird and/or Seamonkey.

Plextor control
tool version 0.0.2 has been released (8/20/2007). This is a tool for
updating Plextor firmware and configuring some settings on Plextor CD and DVD

Lotus has released (8/13/2007) SmartSuite 1.7 Fixpack 3 Patch

textmode MP3 player, that can also handle ogg, streaming audio (Shoutcast), and

0.0.3 has been released (8/18/2007). This is a NDIS driver for NVIDIA chipset
network adapters.
Art of Illusion version 2.5 has been
released (8/18/2007). This is a full featured 3D modelling, rendering, and
animation studio, written entirely in Java.
DFSee has been updated (8/17/2007) to
version 9.0. DFSee is an FDISK, display, analysis and recovery tool for disks
and filesystems. It includes the ability to resize FAT and FAT32 partitions,
has some JFS and LVM support, and is now shareware. There is also a support forum available. From

ACPI driver version 3.01 was released (8/17/2007) on the eComStation Betazone (for Software
Subscription customers only). Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI)
is a replacement for APM, PnP, and related hardware features. It features
support for multiprocessor systems (SMP, Dual Core, and HyperThreading), and
there is an APM driver available (poweroff works, but suspend causes traps if
you have an Intel NIC!). There is an ACPI Tools web page as well,
which includes a battery monitoring widget for XCenter. Thanks to Eugene

PhotoRec version 6.8 has
been ported (8/15/2007) to OS/2. This is a file data recovery software designed
to recover lost pictures and other data files from digital camera memory or
hard disks. Also available is TestDisk, a tool for partition analysis and
recovery. Both of these utilities currently only work with image files under

OS2MT has been updated (8/15/2007) to
version 0.71 beta. This is a maintenance tool that enables you to download and
install various applications with a couple clicks of the mouse. There is also a

FlashBlock version 1.5.4.1 (for
Firefox 1.5.x and later) and version 1.3.7.1 (for other Mozilla browsers) have
been released (8/14/2007). This is a Mozilla / Firefox extension that replaces
Flash animations with a "click to play" placeholder.

released (8/9/2007). It is a personal finance manager written completely in
Java. It includes transaction auto-completion, graphing, reporting, a
reconciliation tool, running cleared vs uncleared balances, transaction
sorting, double-entry, multiple currencies, multiple accounts and much
more.
File Commander/2

stable version 2.20. This is a
Norton Commander clone for OS/2.
SmartCVS version 6.0.4 has been
released (8/5/2007). This is a Java CVS GUI client, with features like built-in
File Compare/Merge, Transaction display or List Repository Files, and more. It
requires Java 1.4.1 or higher.
Daniela Engert has released (8/2/2007) DaniATAPI version
0.4.0. DaniATAPI is a replacement for IBM's ATAPI drivers (IBMIDECD, IBMATAPI,
PCM2ATA.ADD, and OS2PCARD.DMD). It features support for ZIP-250, including full
media swapping, and even booting from ZIP. It has faster 32bit PIO when used
with danis506, and devices can be used as SCSI, for use with programs like

SysInfo/2
version 0.8.25, an OS/2 clone of the Symantec SystemInfo tool, has been
released (8/2/2007). It shows info about your CPU/FPU, BIOS, HDD, memory use,
video and printer subsystems, LAN and Internet connection, OS/2 version,
fixpack installed, and so on.
JAlbum version 7.2.1 has been released
(8/2/2007). This is a web photo album generator that runs on Java.
SafeFire PPP/Links version 1.3 alpha
has been updated (8/2/2007). SafeFire PPP/Links supports PPtP, MSCHAP, ISDN, a
traffic shaper, an identd server, remote control, and more.
The
Piano Launchpad component of eSchemes Deluxe has
been updated to version 1.20 (7/30/2007). The Imagination component has also
been updated (8/2/2007). It consists of new WPS classes which simplify browsing
of pictures; it offers a preview window and image viewing, with support for
many common graphics formats. Piano Launchpad is a replacement for the old IBM
Launchpad, with support for large icons. eSchemes will be a component of
eComStation 2.0, while eSchemes Deluxe is a standalone product; it can be
purchased through Mensys.
PMView, the indispensable graphics viewer,
has been updated (8/1/2007) to version 3.51. Version 3.x has several new
features, including EXIF support, scripted batch conversions, lossless JPEG
rotation, and flyover image info; see the full list of what's new for more info. Registered
users can get their updates by following the download instructions received
with their original purchase.
Lucide version 1.0.1 has been released (8/1/2007) on the eComstation BetaZone. This is a
multi-purpose document viewer, using plugins for different formats. It
currently supports PDF, DjVu documents, and JPEG files; additional formats can
be added by third party programmers. The UniClip package is now required. Bugs

Ghostscript version 8.60 has
been released (8/1/2007); also available is GSView version 4.8 (2/25/2006).
Ghostscript is a freeware postscript interpreter/converter for generating
Acrobat (PDF) documents, and GSView is a graphical document viewer that uses
Ghostscript as its display engine.

powerful CD mastering software, RSJ CD Writer, has been
updated (7/27/2007) to version 6.01, which has support for DVD writing, freedb,
DAO, IDE drives, creating bootable CDs, and more. Version 6.x adds USB support
and a REXX API.
GNU
CoreUtils version 6.9 have been ported (7/27/2007) to OS/2. This package is
the union of the GNU fileutils, sh-utils, and textutils packages, offering
several useful utilities.
Panoply version 2.3 has
been released (7/27/2007). This is a Java application which enables the user to
plot raster images of geo-gridded data from netCDF datasets. Depending on the
data, it can draw global longitude-latitude images or pole-to-pole
latitude-vertical images.
General Network Utilities has
been updated (7/25/2007). This is a powerful Internet diagnostic tool kit
featuring several tools designed to help you quickly identify problems, locate
where the problem is, and gather data which can be used to solve the problem

Squid version
2.6s14 has been ported (7/24/2007) to OS/2. Squid offers high performance proxy

Gendatam Suite beta 3 version 5 has been

The
Panorama VESA video driver was updated (7/16/2007) on the eComStation Betazone (for Software
Subscription customers only). This is a generic VESA driver, which supports all
VESA 2.0 compatible video adapters. There are also some "widescreen
activators" available for Intel and ATI chipsets, which hack the VESA BIOS
to support some widescreen modes. Users with SMP systems and/or widescreen
panels may find this useful if there isn't an accelerated driver available;
there is also an FAQ

ISO9660 Analyzer
Tool version 0.1.3 has been ported (7/16/2007) to OS/2. This is a tool for
detecting the structure of many types of CD-ROM image file formats, such as
BIN, MDF, PDI, CDI, NRG, and B5I, and converting them into ISO-9660.
C.a.R. version 6.4 has been released.
This is a Java program that simulates school geometry constructions with a pair
of compasses and a straightedge (ruler).

Weasel version 1.77
has been released (7/15/2007). This is a "lightweight" SMTP/POP server that has
multi-domain support. Also available (4/5/2005) is the IMAPD version 0.08

SEEK version 1.0
has been released (7/15/2007). This utility searches for files and directories
on your system, and sorts the results. It can also launch apps, search for text
strings, find extended attributes, and copy tree data to the clipboard. Thanks

PAF for
OS/2 version 1.20 has been released. This is an object oriented runtime
environment that enhances various OS/2 components. It includes a new PM switch
list, IPF extensions enhancing view.exe, extensions for OS/2's Help Manager and
a SOM based runtime environment for new WPS applications. Apparently the
current direction is to encourage migration to aerolitheOS,
an RTOS from the same developers.
Iconomize
version 0.81 has been released (7/12/2007). This is an INI maintenance tool
that lets you eliminate duplicate icon data in os2.ini. Iconomize was created
to demonstrate the features of Remote Workplace Server.
CPMap
version 1.1 has been released (7/11/2007). This is a graphical program that can
display a complete character map of any OS/2 codepage (including ones that are
not normally displayable).
PDFMergeNX
version 2.0 test has been released (7/10/2007). This is an application for
manipulating PDF and PS files; it provides a graphical interface on top of
GhostScript, XPDF, and ePDF.
PrefBar version 3.4.1 has been
released (7/10/2007). It allows you to configure several Mozilla settings on
the fly, and incorporates the features of UABar.
Guiffy version 8.0 build 226 has been
released (7/10/2007). Guiffy is a file compare / merge (diff-like) tool with a
GUI implemented in Java.
Remote Workplace
Server version 0.80 has been released (7/9/2007). This enables a program to
invoke any class or object method or any SOM function in the WPS process
without the use of SOM or DSOM. Data that is accessible or meaningful only in
the WPS process (e.g. a buffer or object pointer) can be copied or converted to
make it available to the calling process. RWS is an open-source project
licensed under the generous terms of the Mozilla Public License. It includes
server & client dlls, complete source code, extensive documentation, and
demo programs.
ImageJ version 1.38 has been released
(7/9/2007). ImageJ is a powerful image-editing program relying on Java 1.3 or
greater, with numerous plugins.
oo version 1.10
has been released (7/5/2007). This is a WPS commandline tool, that can be used
to open, locate, and list WPS objects, assign setup strings, popup their menus,

you delete unwanted folder position entries. This is a program that

Gotcha! version 1.77 has
been released (7/4/2007). This is a small utility for OS/2 which allows you to
easily capture windows, window interiors, parts of the screen or the whole
desktop and save them to disk or clipboard as a picture (OS/2 bitmap
format).
WPIView version
1.05 has been released (7/4/2007). This is a utility to view, install, and
extract WarpIN packages.
eRedMan
version 0.9.1 has been released (7/4/2007). This is a pipe redirection utility,
like printmon.exe or print2ps.cmd that comes with ePDF. It redirects the
contents of pipes to a temporary file and calls the associated program with
defined parameters as soon as all the data has been written to the pipe. An
example usage for this is to use GhostScript as a printer driver in order to
turn your inkjet printer into a PostScript printer.
A
test version of MPlayer has been
released (7/1/2007), which has support for WarpOverlay. This is a video player

GNU Ocrad version 0.17 has
been ported (7/1/2007) to OS/2. This is an OCR (Optical Character Recognition)
program, that reads a bitmap image in pbm, pgm and ppm formats and produces

2.2.0.0 has been released (7/1/2007). This is designed to apply software
updates to eComstation.
Peter Weilbacher has released (6/30/2007) an OS/2 build of
Sunbird version 0.5, the stand-alone Mozilla calendaring
program.
Walter Meinl has released (6/30/2007) an OS/2 build of
Lightning version 0.5; this is a Thunderbird extension that provides
calendar support.
Personal Cards
Manager has been updated (6/30/2007). This enables you to store personal
data about your friends, colleagues, and customers in objects on the desktop,

The
USB-based monitor for APC Back-UPS CS/ES
has been updated (6/27/2007) to version 0.05b3. The web site is in Russian, but
there is an English readme file. From OS2.org.
Vladest has released (6/25/2007) a "post-NetLabs" build of WarpVision. Some notes
about the release: it uses an integrated codec for WMV files instead of using
Odin to load a Win32 codec, and the result is not as good as before (no
post-processing); prior to WarpVision being a NetLabs project, it violated the
GPL, and it is expected that will be true again. Still available (5/23/2006)
from NetLabs is WarpVision version
1.0.1. This is a player for DivX-3, DivX-4, DivX-5, XViD, MPEG-1, MPEG-2,
AVI, and ASF, with mp3/ac3 audio, DVD support, video overlay support, and is
skinnable. WarpVision is
based on GPL
code; at least some of the source for it is in NetLabs CVS. There are also
some Windows codecs

ProNews/2
version 1.59 has been released (6/24/2007). This is a popular newsreader
program. All proceeds now go to charity, as the development of this application
has been taken over by members of the OS/2 community. The latest version is on

K Movie Player
version 0.3.1 has been released (6/23/2007). This is a movie player based on
FFPlay, without SDL dependencies and support for WarpOverlay.
ScummVM version 0.10.0 has been released
(6/20/2007). This allows you to run several adventure games, provided you have
the data files. Games known to work include Space Quest I & II, King's
Quest I-III, Legend of Kyrandia, Simon the Sorcerer 1 and 2; Beneath A Steel
Sky, Broken Sword 1 and Broken Sword 2; Flight of the Amazon Queen; and games
based on LucasArts' SCUMM (Script Creation Utility for Maniac Mansion) system,
including Monkey Island, Day of the Tentacle, Sam and Max and more. There are
even free downloads available for a few of the games.
SQLite version
3.4.0 has been ported (6/20/2007) to OS/2. SQLite is an embedded SQL database
library.

for converting CD images to ISO format, including BlindWrite, CDRWin, CloneCD,

Harbour version 0.99.3 has been
released (6/15/2007). This is a free software compiler for the xBase superset
language, often referred to as Clipper (as implemented by CA-Clipper).
JamochaMUD version 2.1 has been
released (6/13/2007). This is an open-source Java MUCK/MUD client.
kLIBC version 0.6.3 and GCC 3.3.5
CSD3 have been re-released (6/12/2007). GCC is an open source compiler;
features of the OS/2 port include fork() support, symlinks, chroot support, and
many new functions. The kLIBC runtime is used by many OS/2 ports of Unix
applications. Note: the re-release fixes the backward-compatibility bug in the
original release that prevented Seamonkey from working.
The
bootable JFS drivers have been updated (6/12/2007) on the eComStation Betazone (for Software
Subscription customers only). The package includes updates for JFS.IFS and

Smedley has released (6/5/2007) an OS/2 port of LyX version 1.4.4.
LyX is an open source WYSIWYM (what you see is what you mean) GUI document
processor. Unlike standard word processors, LyX encourages an approach to
writing based on the structure of your documents, not their appearance. LyX
lets you concentrate on writing, leaving details of visual layout to the
software.
ft2gui version
1.0.2 has been released (6/5/2007). This is a utility to switch between the IBM
TrueType.DLL and FreeType.DLL, and configure FreeType options.
